Born in 1945, Robert Cardinal Sarah was Archbishop of Conakry in his native country, Guinea, from 1979-2001. Called to the service of the Holy See by St John Paul II in 2001 he has served as the Secretary of the Congregation for the Evangelisation of the Peoples and as President of the Pontifical Council Cor Unum. Pope Benedict XVI created him cardinal in 2010 and in November 2014 Pope Francis appointed him Prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship and Discipline of the Sacraments. His popular and insightful 2015 book-length interview Dieu ou rien has been translated into many languages including English (God or Nothing, Ignatius Press 2015).
